Analysis:
This focus group was used in order to figure out the publics views on thrillers. A focus group is a group of people assembled to participate in a discussion about a product before it is launched, or to provide feedback on a political campaign, television series. In this case, we were attempting to gather information on peoples opinions on what makes a good thriller. The first question was about peoples favourite thrillers in which there were a wide variety of answers. This tells us the the public may be quite divided in terms of what sort of thrillers that they enjoy watching.
The next question was why the favourite thriller your preferred one to watch. This helps is discovering the reasons behind why the people enjoy certain aspects of thrillers. this will in turn allow me to implement these features into my own thriller.
The next question was who was your favourite character from the thriller, enabling me to understand the types of characters that are likeable in the genre. I got a range of answers back one of them in which was Luther. When asked why, the member of the public described that they enjoyed the psychological depth of the character, which appeared to be the general consensus for what makes a good character within the thriller genre. When asked how they would improve the character, a few of the members were slightly confused. This may be due to the range of answers that could have been given here as it is a ver open ended question. A lot of the people however wanted more depth in the characters.
When asked what makes an interesting main character, the people tended to mention that the character needed to develop through the narrative. This could aid in the audience building a personal connection with the characters. These were the most beneficial questions that I asked that will be useful in making my own thriller as realistic and intriguing as possible.
